Defending 4a state champs rolling along

Another "ranked" team falls to the defending champs. No one in the state of Indiana plays the schedule that Ft. Wayne Carroll plays. They play in "The" best conference in the state, by far!!!! 5 of the 8 teams were or are ranked in their class. Their out of conference schedule includes Jeffersonville, New Albany, Ft. Wayne Snider, Penn, Huntington North, Fishers, etc..... Every year they win 20+ games. No surprise here that they beat mighty Cathedral in the state finals. Coach Ginder and his staff has one of the premier programs. Its time for people in central Indiana to take notice that the best teams aren't from Indianapolis. period!!!!!!!! Good Luck Chargers!!!!

If this is the "brag on your team thread" then here I go.

You're right that the best teams aren't from Indy. I'm not sure why that is ... perhaps youth leagues. The kids playing on HS teams not in big cities (and I know Ft. Wayne is big) get to play with their HS teammates from tee ball. In big cities you have hundreds of different teams and maybe a dozen different leagues. As individual of sport as baseball is, I think there's a level of comfort when you play with the same guys every day.

The PAC is also a very tough conference this season with Forest Park, South Spencer, Heritage Hills, Tell City and North Posey all being ranked at one time or another. Defending state champion Tecumseh may have also been ranked early in the season (they'll be a state-level team again next year...too young now).

South Spencer is beating very solid teams by the 10-run rule on a regular basis. Their lone loss was 7-6 at North Posey early in the year on a squeeze play.

Next week they play in the very tough Jasper tourney. Then play Forest Park, Heritage Hills and Jasper in consecutive days.

    NHC is a power conference

I think that you are right when it comes to baseball the NHC is just about a tough as they come. I played in the NHC when Carroll was just starting their run with Trent Diller and Trent Glassley. I was at DeKalb when we were at the end of our run being a VERY strong but not state title worthy run. If you run down through the traditionally good teams in this conference I think they could annually blow a lot of teams away with the depth that this conference provides.

Hey Chris, You make a good point in your first paragraph. A lot of kids grow up playing baseball with their friends from an early age, through T-ball, summer leagues and such. They become familiar with one another and tend to "stick together" as friends through middle and high school. A good "feeder program" is crucial for development of baseball skills early in a child's life.
Another point, about your last paragraph, good luck in the Jasper tournament. Talk about a good feeder program, what an outstanding facility and program they have down there! Jasper is one of the teams that I am writing my report on in class about quality baseball in our state. Doing a lot of research through the sites and finding some great material to write on. Jasper is always tough in baseball and I have enjoyed going down there recently to watch some good baseball teams. Very fortunate to see some awesome players/teams down in Jasper.

Wow, what a sectional 5 monday it was. I saw three very competative games. 1st game Ft. Wayne Northrop came within feet of upsetting DeKalb. Both teams played hard and it was enjoyable to watch. 2nd game Ft. Wayne Carroll edged Ft. Wayne Snider 6-5 in a thriller. If it weren't for the 5 errors that Snider made, it could have been a different result. BUT Carroll showed why they are the defending champions. 3rd game (Championship Game) DeKalb was eager to show Carroll that they could take the top dog down. With their # 1 pitcher and home field advantage going for them. But again Ft. Wayne Carroll showed why they are ranked #1 and defending champions. Pounding out 10 hits and scoring 7 runs(3 doubles and a Grand Slam) Carroll was to much for the #5 ranked DeKalb. It was a great game to watch. For Carroll, it was their 3rd in 4 years sectional championship. Next up for the Chargers is Huntington North. Roll Chargers Roll!!! Good Luck to the Defending 4a State Champs. Bring back another Regional Championship home.

Going back to State Finals!!! Rematch of last years finals. This should be a good game. My sources tell me that Cathedral has been looking at this game for a year. I also heard that Dillon Peters been throwing the ball between 93-95 in the last two games. Sounds like he is a kid on a misson!!!! Not sure if Carroll can hit him but that is why they play the game.Carroll hasn't faced a pitcher all year that will be going to a D1 college program. Last year they faced 4 D1 pitchers on their way to the championship. Carroll will have to score more than one run this year to win. I think that this is the first time the same two teams play for the championship. I may be wrong on that. Both teams will play hard until the last out. Good Luck Chargers!!!! Get it done!!!

STATE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!!!!!!! 5 - 3 victory at Victory Field. Might as well rename it Charger Field II. What a game. Congratulation to all the players and the coaching staff!! Clutch hitting and timely pitching were the keys to this game. Carroll made Cathedral pay for the 5 walks issused with big hits. Downs made the pitches when he had to and got a pick off at first base when Cathedral was mounting a come back in the 6th inning. GREAT job by the boys in BLUE!!! Coach Ginder and his staff(Windmiller,Vince,Rudolph,Lantz,Kohl,Papagian nis,Trahin) have done a Great job of getting their teams ready to play. I know how tough it is to get one state championship. To get 2 in a row, OUTSTANDING!!! On a side note, some adult Carroll fans need to show some maturity when cheering for the boys in blue. To yell at an opposing player, 18 yrs old, who was giving his best, is NOT what Carroll baseball is about!! There have been False rumors going around about the opposing player for months. They are just that, FALSE. When rooting for Carroll baseball, show some class because thats what Carroll baseball IS about!! Again, Congratulations to the 2011 4a STATE CHAMPIONS!!!
