The Tigers now 10-6 and 4-1 on the campaign, took a giant step forward in the TEC title race this week, with wins over Northeastern and 4th rated Union County on back to back nights. The Tigers entered the last frame down one run but scored twice to take a 7-6 lead and Cole Bartlett, pitching the last three innings in relief, slammed the door on the Knights, in the bottom of the 7th, to pick up the win. Chris Werking, who missed the last three games with illness kept the Tigers in the game with his pitching and his bat with 3 hits and 5 RBIs. The next night the Tigers handed the 4th rated Union County Patriots thier first conference loss, and the first loss to an Indiana team by a score of 7-2. Tyler Kelley gave the Tigers an early lead with a 2 run homer in the 2nd inning and they never looked back, jumping to a 7-0 lead before settling for the final margin. Bartlett was overpowering on the mound with 11 strikeouts in the complete game victory. Saturday Hagerstown traveled to Berne to play Frankton in a 9:00 AM start. It was a game they would like to forget. Leading by a margin of 17-10 going into the bottom of the seventh, they sqaundered the lead as the Eagles tied the game in the 7th and won it in the 8th by a football score of 18-17. The winning run scored on a walk with the base loaded. The Tigers travel to Centerville Tuesday to take on the Bulldogs. The outcome will help bring the TEC race into focus.
