Wow! Carroll takes down Cathedral again! Dillon Peters finishes his career with no blue rings. And I can't say that I feel bad for the kid because of his cocky attitude on the mound. I think that although he was the more highly touted pitcher in the game, Downs did a great job and Cathedral's hitting was too little too late at the end. Walks hurt Peters for sure. The knock on Cathedral is how good their hitting was against quality pitching, and they could not figure out Downs tonight.
This makes obviously 2 in a row for Carroll, this also makes 4 out of the last 6 state champs have come from sectional 5 (the Ft. Wayne area, FW Snider won state in '06 and '09) so there is NO DOUBT where the best big school ball is being played right now. Carroll had tougher games in sectional 5 against FW Snider and DeKalb than the state game.
Cathedral has now lost 3 out of the last 4 state title games they've been to (all to FW schools). Congrats Carroll! Ginder has a fantastic program going on over there.
