    NLC Baseball

Year in and year out this seems to be not only one of the best conferences in the state, but also one of the most competitive. Maybe not as much as football and basketball, but it is still a great conference. Here are the current standings with only one game left in the first go round of the conference season:

    1. Northridge 6-0
    T2. Warsaw 4-2
    T2. Goshen 4-2
    T4. Plymouth 3-3
    T4. Memorial 3-3
    6. NorthWood 2-4
    T7. Concord 1-5
    T7. Wawasee 1-5

Concord faces off against Wawasee on Monday to determine who is at the bottom of the NLC after the first time around. I've seen a few Minutemen games this season and they really have the talent to win a lot of games. The pitching just isn't where it should be right now. They picked up their first win in conference yesterday against Warsaw, who threw their best pitcher in Witt. The offense is great for the Minutemen right now they just nee to get the pitching up there with it. If they can do that, they could pull off a few upsets the rest of the season. They are too far away to win conference now, but they could definitely spoil a few teams chances still.

NorthWood is the other 2-6 team, instead of Wawasee being double 2-6 haha.

Saw Concord lost to Wawasee the other day. Not sure the last time that happened. I know a couple years ago when the Minutemen went 2-12 in conference, both wins came against Wawasee and they beat them both times last year as well. Been awhile since the Minutemen dropped one to the Warriors.

I've been out to a few games this year and the problem still seems to be pitching. Not that it is terrible, but it is very inconsistent. I may head out to the game today against Plymouth before I make my way over to watch the Kelly Relays. Should be a great night at Concord! Unless the rain ruins everything. :-\

Well I lied. The game tonight is at Plymouth. I guess I'll just be going to the Relays then. Looks like we may luck out and the rain may stay above us (knock on wood).

I am new to following high school baseball. Started going last year to some of the Pilgrims games and really enjoyed being at Bill Nixon Field. Nice facility and good music during the pauses.
With the early start times I can only make it to the home games and try to listen in on the radio
to the away games. Plymouth got a little payback last night against Warsaw who beat them
up pretty good the last time they met.
Northridge is pretty much in a league of their own. Have they always been so dominating in past years?

Despite sharing the league crown last year, they were far from dominating. Even this year they aren't dominating teams, they are just doing what it takes to get that W, and that's all that matters. My Minutemen took 2 of 3 last year against them. From following NLC baseball for a long time, most of the teams are pretty evenly matched with talent except for a few each year, but some execute much better, like Northridge. They are well coached and they know how to play the game right. They are not dominating by any means, but they get the job done.
